Capture the right view

# Give slow pages time to load

Web pages often load images and change their layout after the first view appears. Adaptive waiting gives visible content time to settle before each frame is captured.

## What the waiting mode observes

FullPageShot checks visible images, fonts and layout changes while capturing. Adaptive mode allows up to 12 seconds per view; Patient mode allows up to 25 seconds for slower pages. Both are bounded waits rather than a promise that every background task is complete.

Persistent counters, background requests or continuously changing content can keep a page busy without changing the screenshot you need. The capture may continue with a warning instead of waiting indefinitely.

## Retry a slow section deliberately

1. Let the page load normally and bring its important content into view.
2. Choose Patient under Loading patience when a normal capture misses visible content.
3. Keep the captured tab active and leave its size and zoom unchanged.
4. Review the loading warnings and compare the affected region with the live page.

## When more waiting will not help

Separate scrolling panels, protected video and cross-origin embeds have browser limits. A longer wait does not grant access to hidden or protected content. An endlessly growing page also needs a defined scope.

If an important region still appears blank, try a visible-area capture of that region. Include browser version, page behaviour and the exact warning in a support request; remove private content before sharing a sample.

## A worked example

An article shows image placeholders when first opened. Patient loading gives slower views more waiting time, but cannot make a failed image request succeed. Expand the required sections and let the original page settle, then capture. If a warning remains, locate the affected region and decide whether the image can be shared as a partial record. A second identical capture without changing the problem is less informative than checking one missing section on the actual page.

Add your observations. This template processes no files and sends no report.

### Check the result

### If something is wrong

**Observation and next step**

| Observation | Next step |
| --- | --- |
| Image missing on original too | Resolve the page loading issue first; capture cannot invent it. |
| Slow section remains blank | Try Patient and a smaller visible scope, then check the actual section. |
| Layout changes during capture | Wait for the page to settle and avoid expanding or navigating while capture runs. |

## Common questions

**Does Patient mode guarantee a complete capture?**

No. It gives each view more time, but cannot overcome protected content, hidden data or arbitrary page behaviour.

**Why can I get a warning even when the screenshot looks fine?**

Some pages keep background activity running. Warnings describe observed limits; inspect the visible sections you actually need.

Review the actual saved file before sharing. Local history can retain the original capture separately from an edited or redacted export.
