# Revise text and shapes without recapturing

An annotation is easier to improve when you edit the actual element instead of drawing another one on top of it.

By Impulse Apps · Content reviewed on 7 October 2026

## Select the intended element first

Open the annotation editor and use Select. Check the visible selection boundary before moving, resizing or deleting. For text, use Edit text and review the complete label; a wrong selection can change an unrelated explanation.

The current editor supports moving, resizing, text editing, duplicate and delete. These are local editing actions. They do not change the underlying website or automatically update a previously shared export.

## Make one revision at a time

1. Select the element and check its boundary.
2. Move or resize to keep evidence visible.
3. Edit the label or duplicate only when repetition is useful.
4. Export a new reviewed file and distinguish it from the earlier version.

## Review at the recipient’s viewing size

A large editor zoom may hide that text is too small in the final image. Open the export at actual size and at the intended display size. Keep labels concise and make their relationship to the target clear.

## Choose the next step from the actual result

Check wording as well as position. An old label can remain factually wrong even after its arrow is moved. Keep the text tied to the visible observation and use a separate explanation for assumptions. If duplicating an element, change the label when the second target differs. More annotations do not automatically add clarity; remove a redundant marker when one concise explanation is enough.

After revision, compare the old and new exports deliberately. The source pixels should still depict the same captured state unless you chose a new capture. Verify that the corrected element is present and the misleading one is gone. Keep file names distinct. If a previously sent copy needs replacing, you decide where to send the revision; local editing does not reach already shared files.

## A worked example

An arrow points to the wrong field and its label covers the error. Select the arrow and reposition it first. Then select the label and move it beside the field. Export a revised copy, open it and check both changes. Drawing more arrows would leave the old incorrect explanation in place.

Add your observations. This template processes no files and sends no report.

### Check the result

### If something is wrong

**Observation and next step**

| Observation | Next step |
| --- | --- |
| Wrong element changes | Undo, then verify the selection boundary before acting again. |
| Label is unreadable in export | Adjust text size and inspect the actual saved image. |
| Old shared file unchanged | Local edits do not update copies already sent; export and share the reviewed revision yourself. |

## Common questions

**Does editing change the website?**

No. It changes local annotations on the captured image.

**Are earlier downloads updated automatically?**

No. Export a new file after making revisions.

Review the actual saved file before sharing. Local history can retain the original capture separately from an edited or redacted export.
