Choose an annotation for the message
Use an arrow to point, a rectangle or ellipse to group a region, and short text to explain it. Avoid covering the evidence you want the reader to inspect. Colour and stroke changes are part of the editable annotation state.
Annotations remain movable after drawing. Selection handles are editing controls and are not included in exports. Solid redaction is a separate Pro tool; a normal coloured shape should not be treated as the privacy workflow.
Select and refine an annotation
- Choose Select and click the existing annotation.
- Move it by dragging or use arrow keys for fine adjustment; Shift makes keyboard nudges larger.
- Resize with the handles. Hold Shift to preserve a shape’s proportions, or use exact width and height controls.
- Double-click text or use Edit text to change wording. Review the final image and undo unwanted changes.
Check what the reader will see
Arrow endpoints can move independently. Text can be scaled with its font-size control or corner handles. Movement, resizing, duplication and deletion are undoable, making a clean revision easier than drawing everything again.
Inspect the export at a useful viewing size. Edits apply to exported images; the original capture is retained in local history. A download of the original is not the same as your annotated result.
A worked example
Use one arrow to identify the defect, one rectangle to show its boundary and a short label explaining the expected behaviour. Place labels beside the target rather than covering it. With Select, revisit each element to move or resize it. Duplicate only when repeated markers genuinely help. Then open the flattened saved image at the size a recipient will use. An annotation that is readable in a zoomed editor may become too small in a ticket or slide.
Add your observations. This template processes no files and sends no report.
Check the result
If something is wrong
| Observation | Next step |
|---|---|
| Text covers the target | Use Select to move it beside the relevant area. |
| Selected element is wrong | Review the selection boundary before resizing, editing or deleting. |
| Edits absent in shared file | Export after editing and open that file; the original history item is a separate capture. |
Common questions
Can I edit text after adding it?
Yes. Select it and use Edit text or double-click it. Review font size and placement again after changing the wording.
Are selection handles exported?
No. They are viewer controls. Download and inspect the finished result to verify its appearance.
