Capture the right view

Choose defaults for your capture workflow

Defaults should support your usual task while leaving room to review unusual pages. Begin with the viewer when you need reliable inspection.

Choose what happens after capture

Options offer Viewer, Save and Copy. Viewer gives you a chance to inspect warnings, crop and annotations before exporting. Direct Save is convenient for already prepared pages. Copy depends on clipboard access and a destination that accepts image paste.

PNG is the initial format; JPEG quality is a separate setting for JPEG. Capture badge adds a credit strip with website and date. Decide whether those details suit your purpose and audience.

Adjust loading and page handling deliberately

Wait for lazy images checks images, fonts and stable layout. Adaptive allows up to twelve seconds per view; Patient allows twenty-five for slower pages. Warm-up pass is bounded and can flag unresolved content. Freeze repeating elements and Hide scrollbars affect the recorded view; inspect their result.

Test the defaults on a representative page

  1. Choose Viewer while establishing your workflow.
  2. Set one relevant option rather than changing everything.
  3. Capture a representative normal page.
  4. Review warnings, joins, output format and privacy before adopting the setting.

Choose the next step from the actual result

Choose defaults by the pages you actually capture rather than by the most demanding possible page. Patient can help slow loading but increases waiting; it cannot resolve unavailable content. Warm-up may be useful for sections that load on scroll but remains bounded. A credit strip can provide useful context for one audience and disclose unnecessary website information to another. Inspect a representative output before deciding.

When diagnosing, change one option and repeat the same prepared page. Note the previous setting so you can return to it. If the page content has changed between attempts, separate that from the option’s effect. Keep Viewer while experimenting so warnings remain easy to inspect. After a reviewed setup, you can deliberately choose direct Save for routine prepared captures that do not need editing.

A worked example

You mainly capture text-heavy product pages with lazy images. Start with PNG, Viewer and waiting for lazy images. Test Adaptive first and use Patient when the original page loads slowly. Keep a full-page sample and inspect repeated navigation and the footer. A faster default is useful only when the output remains suitable for your task.

Common questions

Does Patient guarantee completeness?

No. It allows more waiting time; warnings and actual content still need review.

Does Copy always work automatically?

Clipboard access and a suitable destination are required. Downloading is the practical fallback.
