Capture the right view

Understand capture limits and partial results

The extension bounds capture work and image size to keep browser memory manageable. A warning is part of the result and should guide your review.

Size and time have explicit bounds

Capture work is limited to 60,000 CSS pixels in height, 20,000 in width, 180 frames and four minutes. The output canvas is bounded at 16,384 pixels per side and 48 megapixels. A large result can be scaled down with an explicit warning.

These are safety limits, not targets for every page. Device memory, browser behaviour and page changes can still affect a smaller capture. Capped or incomplete results are identified as partial.

Avoid changing the captured view

  1. Keep the original capture tab active while the process runs.
  2. Do not navigate, resize the browser or change page zoom.
  3. Read the viewer’s frame count, resolution and loading warnings.
  4. For an oversized result, capture a useful smaller region or split the material into separate images.

Content boundaries remain

Browser and store pages, protected video, closed shadow roots and content inside separate scrolling panels may be inaccessible or incomplete. FullPageShot does not bypass authentication or content protection.

A capture that finishes successfully can still omit content the browser did not expose. Compare important regions with the live page. Do not describe a screenshot as a complete archive of all website data.

A worked example

An endless feed keeps growing as it scrolls. A large image may still be a partial capture. FullPageShot bounds dimensions, frames, time and canvas memory. Review the capture details for partial status or scaling warnings. Choose a finite section and describe it honestly in the file name or accompanying note. Several reviewed sections are more useful than calling a capped image “the whole page”. Pro finishing tools do not extend browser capture into an unlimited archive.

Add your observations. This template processes no files and sends no report.

Common questions

Why is a large screenshot smaller than expected?

The extension can scale a result down to fit canvas and memory bounds. Check the viewer’s resolution and scaling warning.

Why did switching tabs cancel capture?

Changing the active tab can make the capture view inconsistent. The extension stops rather than combining the wrong page.
